Joe and Helen Rundberg's 1947 Chevrolet is parked in front of their new house — new to them, that is — Standard Oil Co.'s 1890s Pico Cottage (aka Big House) in Mentryville.

Photograph courtesy of their son, Bill Rundberg (Hart High Class of 1951), who identifies it as late fall or early winter of 1948. Bill and his family lived in Mentryville from 1948 to 1952. Read his story here.

Of this image, Bill says: "Trees in front are umbrella trees, one of which is still there after sprouting from stump."

Note: In a handwritten note accompanying the photos in 1997, and in the story for which they were intended, Bill refers to the home as the "Big House."
