In the Schultz Home
Mentryville | Pico Canyon

The home of Walter Schultz and family stood in the town of Mentryville, across Pico Creek from the Pico Cottage (aka "Big House").

Crowded around the television set in this c. 1951 or 1952 photograph are:

Front row, on floor: Dennis Thurman (child), Violet Thurman, Bernice Schultz, Schultz relative.

Back row: Charlie Thurman (far left), Charlotte Thurman, Bernice Schultz's father and mother.

Far right: Helen Rundberg.

This photograph was taken by Walter Schultz and developed by Schultz and neighbor Bill Rundberg, who used the former maid's quarters in the Big House as a darkroom. The Schultz home no longer stands in Pico Canyon, and no other photographs of the interior are known.
