Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Services: Present knowledge of earliest Catholic services held in the town is of those conducted in 1883 when Rev. Peter Verdaguer came from Old Plaza Church, Los Angeles; with what frequency is not known. The schoolhouse was used for the purpose.

About 1903, Father Gay of Santa Paula attended once a month for several months, using the home of Mrs. (Chas.) Joseph Moore at 524 Spruce St. Religious instruction was also given here.

Rev. Eugene Sugranes, C.M.F., of Old Plaza, Los Angeles between 1910-1912 attended, coming once a month and using a hall at 613 Spruce Street.

Father Sugranes was followed in attendance by Fr. Gerald Bergan, resident of San Fernando in 1912, from which time on the parish has been attended from San Fernando monthly until 1923, semi-monthly till 1927, since when [sic] services have been conducted regularly each Sunday.

Sources of information: Mrs. (Chas.) Joseph Moore; Mr. P. Coyle; Rev. Zephyrin Engelhardt, San Fernando Rey Mission; Rev. C. Burns, O.M.T.
