USGS Maps Showing Honby
Honby | Saugus, California

Composite of USGS Saugus quadrangle (1929) and Humphreys quadrangle (published 1942) to show the Honby community in the center, with the Baker Ranch rodeo grounds (future Saugus Speedway) at left and the community of Solamint [cq] at Solemint [cq] Junction at right. Click each map to enlarge.

Composite of USGS Saugus quadrangle (1933) and Humphreys quadrangle (1932) to show Honby in the center, still in the Ruether-Honby Avenue area. The Honby School now appears some distance away at the curve in Soledad Canyon Road (which for unknown reasons is labeled Sierra Highway). Today the school site is between Soledad Canyon Road at the Santa Clara River, just before (west of) the Soledad auto bridge over the river.

Composite of USGS Newhall quadrangle (1952) and Mint Canyon quadrangle (1960) to show Honby in the center. The school is gone, and so is the Humphreys quadrangle. Saugus has moved. The Baker Ranch is now Bonelli Ranch. Now we see the Schmidt family's airstrip (6-S Ranch Airpark, est. 1947) at far right. It is essentially Pleasantdale Street today.
