George C. Martin
U.S. Navy, Knights of Columbus


George C. Martin, 76, of Canyon Country passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015.

Born in Bellville, KS, on September 12, 1938, to the late Clement and Violet Martin, his family moved to California in 1947. George graduated from Newman High School in Fontana, CA and Chaffee College in Ontario, CA. A Navy veteran, George was the recipient of the Good Conduct Award and the Pacific Theater Award. George's varied career experiences culminated in over a decade in Service Management.

George loved to travel and was an active community volunteer. He enjoyed assistant coaching his grandson's baseball team and was deeply committed to the Knights of Columbus, having attained the level of 4th Degree. He spent many years assisting with KofC events of all sorts. His most recent volunteerism included the Annual Lenten Fish Fry at St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Santa Clarita.

George is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carol; their three children Kris Smith (Mike), Chuck Stokes (Dominique), and Chris Stokes (Gina); and seven grandchildren Lisa, Kat, Anthony, Chuck, Mia, Kelsey and CJ.

A viewing will be held at St. Clare of Assisi in Santa Clarita at 10am on Monday, followed by Rosary at 11am, and the funeral service at 11:30am. Interment will occur at a later date.
