John Patrick "Jack" Dempsey Jr.


John Patrick Dempsey Jr., 71, passed away April 21, 2014 at Windsor Gardens Healthcare Center of the Valley. He was born on October 19, 1942 in Medford, MA to John Patrick Dempsey and Agnes Dempsey.

Jack grew up in Arlington, MA and lived most of his adult life in Valencia, CA. He graduated from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and was proud of his Boston roots. Jack worked as a Pharmacist for over 40 years and was most recently the Pharmacy Manager at Albertsons Sav-On in Valencia. Jack was passionate about helping his customers and he enjoyed his close relationships with them.

Jack was a very generous man and enjoyed giving to others. He was a strong Catholic and enjoyed reading and talking about Catholicism. He was a military veteran who proudly served in Vietnam. Jack enjoyed watching sports, especially the L.A. Kings and New England Patriots.

Jack was extremely loving and proud of his three children, Marissa Kirby of North Hollywood, Colleen Dahlgren of Arroyo Grande, and John M. Dempsey of Santa Clarita. His four grandchildren, Diana Dempsey, Brielle Dahlgren, Jace Dahlgren, and Parker Kirby were the loves of his life. Jack spent every moment he could with his children and grandchildren.

Jack was preceded in death by his two sisters Ann Marie Dempsey and Mary Dempsey.

A funeral service and graveside committal will be held at Eternal Valley Memorial Park Mortuary, 23287 N. Sierra Hwy., Newhall, CA 91321 at 10:00 a.m. on Friday May 2, 2014. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jack's life at the Valencia Hills Clubhouse, 24060 Oak Vale Drive, Valencia, immediately following the service.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
