Mrs. W.H. Evans Dead

Word was received of the death of Mrs. Ida Evans, widow of the late Rev. W.H. Evans, beloved pastor of the Newhall Presbyterian Church at her home in Vista, Wednesday, February 19. The remains are at the Baker-Fowler Mortuary, Lagoon Avenue, Wilmington, at which place the funeral will be held Friday, February 21, at 10 o'clock A.M.

Mrs. Evans had a host of friends in Newhall, Saugus and vicinity, who will be grieved to know of her passing.


Mrs. Ida Evans, widow of the late Rev. Walcott [Wolcott] H. Evans, passed away, February 19, at Vista, California, aged 71 years, 8 months.

Mrs. Evans was for many years a resident of Wilmington, where Mr. Evans was pastor of Calvary Presbyterian church, and which he promoted by a new church building during his pastorate. From Wilmington they moved to Newhall, where they were both well known, and where Mr. Evans served as pastor of the Community Presbyterian church for sixteen years, resigning in 1930, preparatory to retirement. The family then moved to their new home at Vista, where Mr. Evans passed away a year ago [12-20-1934].

Surviving relatives are two sons, Arthur W. Evans of Los Angeles, and Edmund A. of Vista; two sisters*, Emma J. Rule of Wilmington and Luella Buckingham, of Redondo Beach.

Mrs. Evans made a host of friends during her many years of residence in Wilmington, who sincerely mourn her passing.

Rev. Tweedle, pastor of the Presbyterian church will officiate at the funeral assisted by Mrs. Tweedle as soloist.


NOTE: Emma Rule and Luella Buckingham were actually sisters-in-law to Ida, having been sisters to Ida's late husband Wolcott.
