Sheriff's Office & Jail Set
'High Incident' (ABC 1996) | Mentryville

December 1996 — Jack Beitzel, the MRCA's resident caretaker and self-styled "Sheriff of Mentryville," poses with the sheriff's office and jail set built in 1996 for the ABC television series, "High Incident."

The hour-long crime drama ran on ABC Thursdays and lasted two seasons, 1996 and 1997. Leading actors who appeared in all 32 episodes were Matt Beck, Matt Craven, Cole Hauser, Louis Mustillo and David Keith. The show was created by Eric Bogosian, Dave Alan Johnson, Michael Pavone and Steven Spielberg, and produced by ABC, Donwell Productions and DreamWorks SKG.

The sheriff's office-jail structure was erected at the foot of Mustard Hill next to (east of) the Felton schoolhouse. By the end of production, it had been rather thoroughly "shot up" (explosive caps were used to simulate bullet hits). Little more than a façade was left behind.

Black and white photos are December 1996; color photos are a bit later.
