WHAT'S NEW
New and exciting events are taking place in Old Town Newhall! The Street Fair in September was successful, bringing many new faces to the downtown area. "Noël to Newhall" is right around the corner. Check out our Coming Events calendar, which provides you with all the information you need to know about the activities in Old Town Newhall.
This is our last issue of the year. You'll find articles on "Building a Better Window," the SCV Chamber's "Window Decoration Contest," and "Old Town Newhall Cleanup Day." Thanks to our webmaster, Leon Worden, we are always just a click away on the World Wide Web at OldTownNewhall.com.
Watch for the return of Kent Burnes and plan to attend the various meetings and workshops listed in the calendar.
Our very best wishes for peace and prosperity go out to everyone this holiday season.

WINDOW DECORATION CONTEST
The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Holiday Window Decoration Contest in December, with cash prizes for three winners.
Decorations can be either painting or merchandising (or a combination of both) and will be judged at 6 p.m. Dec. 6, with the winners being announced at the Chamber's Holiday Party that evening. Prizes will be $100 for first place, $50 for second and $25 for third place, as well as certificates suitable for displaying throughout the holiday season.
Get in the spirit of the season and let everyone in downtown Newhall know you welcome their business. If you have any questions about lights or appropriate decorations, give Promotion Committee Co-Chair Diane Vradenburg at Newhall Hardware a call at 259-3212.

BUILD A BETTER WINDOW
The Old Town Newhall Association will sponsor a free "Build a Better Window" workshop at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16. Representatives from Burnes Consulting will give a brief overview of window decorating at the Santa Clarita Repertory Theatre, after which the group will move to Valencia Bicycles (next to Adriana's), where a hands-on demonstration will be conducted.
This is an excellent way to prepare for the holiday celebrations in downtown Newhall and prepare for the shopping season, increasing sales through better design.

OLD TOWN NEWHALL CLEANUP DAY
The Old Town Newhall Association's Design Committee is organizing a community-street cleanup day on Saturday, Dec. 2 to spruce up for the holiday events scheduled the following week.
Everyone is welcome to participate — merchants, friends, family and other volunteers. Coffee, bagels and donuts will be provided in the lobby of the Santa Clarita Repertory Theatre for the workers. Bring your brooms, gloves, trash bags and bottles of Simple Green to make downtown Newhall shine for the season.
Merchants are also encouraged to make final touches to their decorations for the window decoration judging, which is scheduled for Dec. 6 at 6 p.m.

NEWHALL STREET FAIR
The annual Old Town Newhall Street Fair was held Sept. 23 and was very well attended. The continuous entertainment, television coverage and general spirit of the Old West attracted many new visitors to the area, who not only spent money but also commented on the many merchants who welcomed them.
Plans are already being made for next year's fair. A car show may be added, as well as an Art Walk or antique show, and the Promotion Committee is investigating the possibility of making it a two-day event.
