Born in Fall River, Massachusetts in 1943, Richard Rioux moved with his father and mother to Southern California in 1958. He met his wife, Suzanne, at California State University Northridge, where he studied history and played on the university golf team. Suzanne and Richard were married in 1966, had two children and moved to the Santa Clarita Valley ten years later. Regina and Stephanie attended Meadows School, Placerita Junior High and Hart High School.

Richard taught secondary school from 1966 to 1971 and received a Ph.D. in History from the University of Southern California in 1978. Suzanne obtained her license as a Marriage and Family Counselor in 1981. They then had two more children -- Natasha and Jeremy -- who presently attend Stevenson Ranch Elementary School.

While working as an administrator in the Los Angeles County Health Department, Richard introduced a pioneering basic education program for people recovering from substance abuse. In whatever he does, he seeks to promote a strong and good America through commitment to God, devotion to the family and enhancement of community life.

At the time of this book's publication, he was president of the Stevenson Ranch Town Council, chairman of the steering committee for Old Town Newhall, USA, and a Sunday columnist for The Signal newspaper.
