Newhall, Calif. May 23, 1923.
Regular meeting of the Directors of Newhall Chamber of Commerce
called to order at 8:30 P.M. in the Masonic Club Rooms by Vice-President P.C. Miller.
Directors Pilcher, McMannus, Harker, Lamkin, Miller and
Thibaudeau present.
After a communication from the Eureka Chamber of Commerce had been
read, a resolution was passed endorsing their efforts to have a bridge built across the
Klamath River on the Pacific Highway up the Sacramento Valley and also calling on the
Governor to sign the bill granting same which has passed both houses of Congress [sic]. The Secretary
was instructed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Governor at Sacramento.
A resolution passed instructing the Secretary to write to E.E. East,
Engineer for the Auto Club of Southern California, in regard to the Tunnel Staton Viaduct.
A report from the Railway Commissioners, givng their decision on the
application of A.B. Perkins for a revision of water rates, was read.
The following Committee was appointed to call on J.R. Moore and ask
him to take the position of Pound Master J.S. Pilcher and J.W. Harker.
After a great deal of discussion a resolution was passed calling on
the President to appoint a committee to interview the County Board of Supervisors in regard
to a raise of salery [sic] for the local Justice of the Peace.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned to June 6th at
usual time and place.
