Senior Class Farewell
The year is 1958. We are a small group of 7th graders attending Wm. S. Hart Jr. -Sr.
High School. At this time we don't know that we will be the last class to attend a combined
Jr. -Sr. High School. Some of us will go on to complete six years at this school. Little
do we realize just how eventful these years will be.
Suddenly, we are in the 8th grade. Eagerly we look forward to our Freshman year.
Our lives are as yet uneventful.
-September, 1960 ! We proved that, although Freshmen, we avoided winning the Lemon
Trophy in the Clothing Drive.
This first year in high school indicates that our class will continue to be good, academic .
wise, as we were in the Junior High.
1961-1962 We, the brave Sophomore Class challenge the mighty Seniors---and "bury"
them in the ICC Assembly. Winning first place with our Homecoming float doesn't help to
heal previous wounds with the Seniors, who are already our arch enemies.
Again, we shy away from the Lemon Trophy in the Clothing Drive. Although we find
ourselves over our heads in class competition, we still find time to see a large percentage
of our class listed on the Honor Roll, we are now established as a class who will excel
academically.
The Junior year, 1962-63 is the greatest in the way of achievements. Because the
Class of 1962 has graduated, we chose as our rivals the Class of "63". We begin the
year with a unique I. C. C. skit which brings us much acclaim.
The Clothing Drive to 62-63 begins-----competition is rough-----then because the
Seniors are behind they steal some of our clothes. Little do they realize how dearly
they will pay for their foul deeds.
Revenge is ours! Under the cover of darkness, a crafty group of us brand the Senior
Lawri and the hearts of every Senior with those triumphant initials-JR'S! It will take a
long time for the scars in the hearts of any loyal Senior to heal. For the second year in
a row we find the Senior Class embittered against us as we emerge victorious with
another spectacular "first" prize in Homecoming competition.
"Wonderland by Night" is hailed by all as the finest Prom ever presented on our campus.
Many of us now seriously consider our ambitions.
We realize now that this is the last year left for the fun and "security" of high school.
It is now 1964 and graduation is at hand. We realize and are thankful for all that Hart
High has given to us these past years of our lives.
Yes, Hart, with your help and preparation we now are ready to face the world as mature
young adults. We know our future rests in our hands.
With a deep sadness that only a Senior can comprehend, we leave you Hart, and take
with us far more than we ever gave you. For this we will be forever thankful.
Honestly, you'll always be Our Own Sweet Hart!
