COMMENTS: Before taking this jaunt, adults should tell the youngsters
some of the history that took place in the area. The footsteps of many
famous people in California history passed this way.
This is an ideal "break-in'' experience for those who haven't taken a
hike during the past few years. It's an easy climb. Senior citizens
with a minimum of hiking stamina may enjoy the walk if they "take it
slow," or they can view the "Cut" from the highway with no walking.
Why not picnic in the floor of Beale's Cut. Look up the 92-foot walls.
During lunch you might discuss the merits of the modern freeway system.
