Organizational Impact: Through Hunt’s leadership of Homes 4 Families (formerly Habitat for Humanity),
there are now homes and wraparound services for 78 low-income veterans and their families in our valley.
This Santa Clarita Veteran Enriched Neighborhood® project has not only impacted the lives of these deserving
military families, but has created many partnerships, including those with the Santa Clarita Elks, Rotary, VFW,
American Legion, Veterans Advocacy Network, high schools and colleges, numerous corporate and foundation
sponsors, and countless individual contributors. Hunt has also been a leader in expanding Santa Clarita’s Bridge
to Home from a small winter shelter to a year-round organization of social workers providing case management
and referral services and helping people without homes find and retain housing. The winter shelter is on the
verge of expanding and becoming year-round in a new facility on property donated by the City of Santa Clarita.
Hunt uses his legal expertise and professional skills to help navigate city planning processes, funding opportuni-
ties, and a wide variety of community partnerships.
Biography: Hunt Braly is a partner in the law firm of Poole & Shaffery, LLP and heads its Land Use and Gov-
ernmental Affairs practice groups. He has a strong record of success in resolving client’s issues with various
governmental entities and in obtaining land use approvals. Braly graduated from the University of Southern
California in 1977 and Loyola of Los Angeles Law School in 1980. From July 1983 until December 1992, Braly
served as chief of staff to State Senator Ed Davis and vice chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. When
Senator Davis retired in 1992, Braly established his own law and lobbying practice in Santa Clarita. In May
1999, Braly became a founding partner of Hacker, Kanowsky & Braly, LLP, a full-service law firm in Santa
Clarita. In 2004, the firm changed its name to HackerBraly, LLP. Braly specialized in land use, development,
and real estate law, along with lobbying matters with the firm until it disbanded in July 2011. Braly is a regis-
