Biography: For the last 20 years Laurie Ender has dedicated herself to families: both her own family and others
throughout the community. From creating award-winning PTA programs that bring arts into the elementary
schools and collaborating with College of the Canyons to bringing students into their Performing Arts Center,
to building parks and programs as part of the Santa Clarita Valley YMCA and the City of Santa Clarita’s Parks,
Recreation and Community Services Commission, she believes in creating opportunities for children and fam-
ilies. Ender has advocated for children through her work on various school and district committees. She volun-
teers with the Every 15 Minutes program, coordinating with the SCV Sheriff’s Department to speak with stu-
dent participants at the City’s Youth Grove Memorial in Central Park several times a year. During her four years
of service on the City Council, she fought to create better opportunities for hospital care, expand local library
services, develop and build more parks and trails, and create an Arts Commission to foster collaboration and
support for the arts community and its patrons. Ender was also a five-year member of the City of Santa Clarita’s
Parks, Recreation & Community Services Commission and served for a term on the Santa Clarita City Council
where she was also mayor. After graduating from Pepperdine University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism,
Ender worked as a producer for many years at both “Entertainment Tonight” and “Access Hollywood.” She and
her husband, Chris, have three sons and have lived in Santa Clarita since 1992.
