Newhall Grade (Sierra Highway)
Newhall, California

Newhall Grade heading through the Newhall Pass circa 1914. Photograph taken about 4 years after the Newhall Auto Tunnel replaced Beale's Cut in 1910 as the main passageway into the Santa Clarita Valley at the summit of the Newhall Pass. The auto tunnel was imploded in 1938 to be replaced by the road that is now Sierra Highway.
