27 years of dedicated service and providing T.L.C. to over 12,000 Bowman students.
Peggy grew up in Gardena, California, and graduated from Gardena High School in 1957. She attended El Camino Junior College and received her AA degree in 1959, and in 1968 she and her family moved to the Santa Clarita Valley where they were one of the original homeowners in the Old Orchard tract of Valencia.
Peggy has three adult children: Steve, Don and Laurie. She is also the proud grandmother of 8-year-old Cale, 7-year-old Jason, 5-year-old Coby, Melissa who is also 5, and Kelsie who is 9 months.
The Wm. S. Hart Union High School District hired Peggy in 1972. Her first position was at Bowman High School, and her first principal was Rocco Cacciatore. She has served under every Bowman principal since that time in her capacity as Registrar/Secretary. Peggy has handled the transcripts and school records for over 12,000 students, and she still remembers most of them.
Outside of school, Peggy enjoys traveling, gardening, and for the last nine years she has been an active "clogger." For her next career she plans to become a wine hostess in the vineyards of Napa Valley upon her retirement.
Most of her Bowman memories will of course center around the students and co-workers with whom she has worked over the past 26 years. Peggy feels that she and the Bowman staff know and care about their students in a special and personal way. And that philosophy is reflected in the friendly and warm personality of Bowman's very own Peggy Effertz.
