Tony Held (father of contributor Dick Held) is at the controls of the dinky locomotive used to haul borax from the Sterling Borax Works in Tick Canyon down to the railhead at Lang in Soledad Canyon. Photo prior to 1921.

Original caption (in unknown, feminine hand) reads:

This one I think is good of you two boys. If Tony wants one I will send him one.

It is believed that about three different "dinky" locomotives were used at the mine; here is another photo of what appears to be the same one.
