10 REPORT OF THE STATE MINERALOGIST.
The bound volumes in the Library exceed four thousand in number,
and the boxes containing the pamphlets two hundred and seventy.
They are neatly arranged, filling twenty-one large cases. The Library
is a commodious room, having been enlarged twice within the past two
years, and every portion of it is being utilized. It is comfortably
furnished, and, being free to all, is constantly resorted to by visitors and
students for purposes of research and investigation.
The facilities for obtaining information, especially in regard to our
State and all parts of the Pacific Coast, have been greatly augmented
during the past year by the additions made in the map department of
the Bureau, as we have procured as complete a set as possible of the
county maps of California.
The following is a list of the newspapers which are sent to the Bureau
free of charge, and we take this opportunity of acknowledging them and
thanking the editors for the same.
