Counselling
Pioneered
"Counseling as it never was before" became a reality
as Canyon added a new approach to counseling.
For the strongly motivated student, the regular
counseling program had been sufficient.
The new vocational program helped students who
were unsure of their futures after high school by al-
lowing them to base career choices on personal in-
terests and achievements. Tests and questionaires
were utilized by counselors to advise students of pos-
sible careers. Pamphlets, guest speakers, and other
information sources were then provided.
The regular counselors were Jean Hackney, Floyd
Smith.t.. and Judy Bellamo. The vocational counselors
were Kobert Donahue, Jay Headley) and George Suel.
As Mr. Donahue summarized, "It students set their
goals now, they will become better pupils, happier
people, and in general, will have a much better out-
look on life."
J. Mrs. Hackney goes over credits for student graduation requirements.
2. Mr. Smith proof reads new vocational career packets. 3. Mrs. Bellomo
