FROM THE CHANCELLOR
As I review what we accomplished at College of the Canyons in
2012-13, I see a list of achievements that may make others ask,
“How did they do that?”
e answer lies in who we are as an institution of higher educa-
tion. Our theme for this past year was Dream. ink. DO! e
outcomes detailed in this report reect the culture of action and
spirit of innovation that distinguish our college from the rest.
As a group of talented, dedicated individuals, we join together
and create a bold, creative, and entrepreneurial team focused on
serving students and our community. As a result, College of the
Canyons is a leader among institutions of higher education. We
seek to make the most of every opportunity, partner with enthu-
siasm, and say “Yes!” whenever we can.
We Plan
We can dream and pursue ambitious goals because we strategically position our-
selves to do so. We invest in the development of our people, seek out new resources,
and do what is necessary to be ready whenever and wherever opportunities arise.

~ Lester Robert Bittel We Are A Team
We succeed in doing so because, like our partners, we care a great deal for our stu-
dents, our community and about the value and power of education. We do it be-
cause we believe in what we do and we know that through our e orts we will move
our students, our community, our state and our nation forward. Looking ahead, we
expect and will create continued growth and success as we expand our service to
students, and the community at large, and as we add new programs and initiatives
designed to address the evolving needs of our service area in the coming years.
We Are Flexible
We can’t always predict what external variables will inuence our plans as they
develop. But we can prepare ourselves to adapt. We do just that as we embrace
a spirit of “can-do” optimism, which positions our college to quickly create new
programs and curriculum in response to community needs, to participate in part-
nerships designed to accomplish more together than we can alone, and to provid-
ing innovative solutions to challenges, seen and unforeseen, that lie ahead. is
enthusiasm is inspired by a shared commitment to entrepreneurialism evidenced
by the college’s faculty, sta , administration, and Board of Trustees. As a result, the
community holds us in high regard, and regularly seeks out our advice, guidance,
and support for new ideas.
