THE TEACHERS' CODE OF ETHICS
Believing that the main objective of education is service to m ankind through the develop-
ment of the whole individual, members of the teaching profession accept these responsibilities.
The first consideration of the teacher is the welfare of his pupil. He guides the pupil in his
growth toward maturity, preparing him to be socially an-d economically competent in the school,
the home and the community, and to be happy personally as a responsible member of society.
The teacher maintains a constructive and cordial attitude, guiding those under his direction,
cooperating with his associates, and respecting the authority of those in administrative positions.
He helps to improve the status of the profession by developing high standards. He is aware
of the values of professional organization and works for their realization.
