In the admin i tration office after school, the faces of
the teachers who are ending the day's work reflect wearied
minds and limbs. A teacher's day is exhausting and often
longer than the school itself of 8: 15 a.m. to 3: 00 p .m.
Besides classes, a day may include conferences with par-
ents and students. After hours, a teacher also has home-
work. He corrects dozens of tests and must plan the next
day's lesson and assignments. Many teachers have extra-
curricular activities such as coaching a sport or sponsoring
a club or organization.
Counselors are busy, also. They have the responsibility
of helping hundreds of students select the academic pro-
gram which is best for each. A counselor guides seniors
in planning and applying for college, "college boards''
and scholar hips. Yet, for counselors and teachers alike,
teaching is the profession they chose to dedicate them-
selves to, and so we say ...
