ith neither crystal balls in their hands nor ouija boards at their fingertips,
sophomores tried their hands at predicting the future. "Computers will take
W over man and try to kill us, because they will
think we are a threat to them," explained Fabian
Bejarano, terrified by his vision of society in twenty-five Future Visions
years.
Others had a more hopeful vision of the future. OfJophomores ~ook 111!0 the (Yuture
Scottie Smyres thought that transportation in the future
would be " ... just like The Jetsons, in little bubble cars
that run on stuff like beer and orange juice."
Brea Williams felt that transportation would not be a necessity. "We won't be traveling
much because we will communicate through air waves."
Still other sophomores foresaw changes in other aspects of society, such as fashion.
Laura Federico raised one eyebrow and offered the opinion, "I'm sure it'll be real skimpy
plastic, or the way it's going now maybe even metal or something you'd never think of."
There was no way of telling what the future would bring. In the blunt opinion of Eric
Gardiner, "At this current rate, society won't last twenty-five years. If we don't wipe
ourselves out, God will."
