!However, the area has always posed a certain amount of

!question in the minds of archaeologists as to the exact

nature of its prehistoric utilization but no attempt had

ever been made to reconstruct its prehistory.
I This Graduate Project, therefore, is an attempt to

!integrate two basic research techniques; an expanded ver-

., sion of the traditional archaeological site survey and an ·

lethnohistoric archival inquiry, in an effort to recon-

!struct a partial, if not the complete, prehistory of the
