In 2017, the City of Santa Clarita's Traffic Safety Committee introduced
the Heads Up campaign to educate drivers and pedestrians about the
dangers of distractions on our roadways. Through a partnership with the
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station, the committee aimed to reduce the
City's traffic collision rate by 5 percent and the number of pedestrian-
involved incidents by 20 percent by the end of the year. The City of Santa
Clarita is proud to report that numbers show a drop of 8.5 percent in the
yearly collision rate compared to 2016 and the number of pedestrian-
involved incidents is down 42 percent over the same time period, with no
