Dedication
It is with deep sadness that one of our dedicated members, Jaylene
Armstrong, passed away peacefully on June 11th_
Jaylene was a passionate advocate to the arts. She worked tirelessly
to have art in our community for all to see and appreciate. Jaylene
was a catalyst in acquiring the SCAA Art Gallery and fortunately did
see her efforts come true. The gallery is thriving today, thanks to her
guidance and experience.
Jaylene tiredlessly promoted the arts in the community, writing articles for the Magazine of
Santa Clarita on a regular basis. She also assisted in fundraising efforts for the SCAA gallery,
ensuring visibility of the group and promoting our "making visual art visible" motto.
Today's Musical Entertainment: The Riva Spier Trio
Spier had a successful career performing in films, television
commercials and doing voice-overs in animated films. Relocating
to Los Angeles brought opportunities to form her band of top
local musicians and to perform in venues and studios.
Currently she writes songs and performs a spicy repertoire of
vintage torch, sultry blues, jazz standards and playful country
tunes with a unique voice which has been described as a
delightful blend of soul and sass with a pinch of trail dust' Her
latest album Unbridled is available at cdbaby.com/cd/riva.
Accompanying Spier are Michael Hughes on keyboard and Larry
Stensvold on guitar.
