               Minutes  of the  Meeting
               Board  of Directors,  Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society
               Placerita Junior High School


                       The  meeting  was  opened by President Mimi  White  at approximately
                7:45  PM with a  greeting to  all attendees.·  Board members  not present

               included  Bob Hanson,  Chic  Kierstad,  Delores  and  Walt Klinger,  Miles
               Metfessel,  Craig Obara,  Betty Pember,  Phyllis  Russell,  Alice  and  Paul
               Sloane,  and Mike Shuman.  Non-board historical society members  and guests

               in attendance  included  Betty Evans,  Eleanore Von Hasse,  Alice  Kline,  Denice
               Ptolemy,  and  Don  Ray.

                       Paul Kline,  Treasurer,  gave  the  financial  report.  The  total income
               for  April 1978 was  $836.92 •. The total April expenditures  were  $1385.77.

               The bank balance  on 30  Apr'il  1978 was  $3,016.07.
                       The minutes  of the  last meeting  and the treasurer's  report were

               approved  as  written.

                      Mimi introduced  Denice  Ptolomy,  friend  of Don  Ray,  who  will assist
               Don in preparing  and  distributing the  flyers  and  publicity for  the  21  May dam
               disaster plaque  dedication ceremonies.  Denice  offered to help in the  layout

               of the  printed program for  the  commemoration.

                      Alice Kline  suggested giving  directions  to people  such as by a  map  on
               how to get to the  dam  site.

                      Art Evans  reviewed preparations  for  the  remembrance  ceremonies
               which are to be held  on  11  AM,  Sunday,  21  May.  The  four  governmental

               agencies  which gave  assistance  after the  dam collapse will be  represented.
               These  agencies  are the  California Highway  Patrol,  the  Los  Angeles  County
               Sheriff's and  Fire Departments,  and the  U.S.  Forest Service.  The  Forest
               Service  and the  Fire Department are  repreparing the  site for the  memorial.

               Jerry Reynolds  has  made  arrangements  for  the  plaque to be delivered by
               stagecoach.  The  stagecoach will have  a  better  route than before the  recent
               flooding.
