Valley Historical Society, we are enclosing th'e 199 forms for;,.the years
1977 and 1978. 1

Due to the serious ill ness'of several of our past offi.cers and the death of
two others the requirementto file the)t~arly 199 form was oyeF)oqked. The pre-
labeled J99 forms, to our.knowledge, were never received by o.ur;Treasurer,
Paul Kl foe, and were only received after he requested them fr9m your office

on August 13, 1979. The only form he had previously receiv-ecl was}for the
current list of officers which he returne,d to the/office of the 5:ecretary of
State believing that was the only filing requiremenfof our non'"'.profit exempt
organization.

We have been advised that we are not a charitable trust by our volunteer legal
counsel and are discussing the matter with Mr. Duane Reule currently. We will
forward a copy of that correspondence to your office.

We respectfully request your office to waive the penalties referred to in your
message of August 15, l979. Our Society, Mr. Kline, and myself extend our
apologies and thank you for your consideration and understanding in this matter.
