Dear Mr. Cooper:
As you are aware the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Societv has
been working on the restoration of the Mogul 1629 Locomotive-that
was donated by Gene Autry at Hart Park. We are hopeful of having
the engine running by the time of its centenial in November, 2000.
We would like to extend our track for a 1/2 mile parallel to the
existing main line on the Frew parcel of Hart Park.
In discussing this with Jo Ann Darcy she suggested talking with Jim
Park your chief planner. I explained that Don Hale, who did the
plans for the buildings we moved into Heritage Junction, did a plan
for our proposed track layout in 1987. He found that there would
be less than+/- 3 feet c,f ,~-;-:.-ading involved sc• that a grading
ner-mi t should not be needed. Jim Park: said that he thought we
~ould qualify for an EIR waiver since the line would be just a few
feet from the existing SP/MetroLink line.
We would appreciate having your panning department look at the
enclosed preliminary drawing and of er suggestions on how we should
proceed.
Very truly,
~~i/4.4·•
