                                                                      Ruth  Thompson.  Using  an  unusual  medium  (oi I
                                                                      on  masonite)  Ms.  Thompson  has  i I lustrated  a
                                                                      study  of  cherries  and  a  copper  pitcher  on  a
                                                                      soft  white  table.  Ms.  Thompson  is  a  graduate
                                                                      in  arls  from  the  University  of  Colorado  and
                                                                      attended  both  the  Chouinard  Institute  and  the
                                                                      Otis Art Institute.

            CLASSIC  MEDIUM.  "Wallen  Waters"  by  Ilene
    103  Skinner  This  8"  x  10"  work  is  executed
            thru  "encaustic painting."  This unusual medium
            is  from  ancient  Greece  and  involves  mixing
            dry  pigments  with  molten  beeswax  and  resin,
            then  fusing  the  finished  work  with  heat,  pro-
            ducing  a  striking  result.  Ms.  Skinner,  a world
            traveler  and  now  Sand  Canyon  resident,  has
            painted  everything  from  the  abstract  to  the
            traditional.
