                Doreen Buluron

                    ~ I

Hard working, moral, family-oriented. These are
words used best to describe senior Doreen Buluran. As a
Filipino-American girl living in California, Doreen is a normal
high school student who tries hard and has school spirit.
Being junior class Homecoming princess is a
true testament to her popularity among her peers. "I felt
really proud that my class was kind enough to let me
0 represent them as their princess. It made me feel very
special that they saw me in this way. It was a wonderful
moment to stand up on that field with Matt McGreevey, the
junior class prince," Doreen commented. Doreen is also part
of the Valencia ASB and is often seen on VTV.
Aside from being involved in school activities
and events, Doreen is also a dedicated, full-time student.
She tries hard in all her classes and often spends many long
hours doing homework everyday. Her great ambition and
sound morals keep her honest in her attempts to do well.
"Even though I'm not a genius and I am not one of the top
students in my class, I've worked very hard to get where
I am today and my determination to do well in school has
gotten me this far and. will hopefully take me even further
               and higher."
Born January 12, 1981 in Los Angeles, California,
Doreen has always considered her family the most impor-
tant thing in her life. Doreen has always tried to be very close
with her family. She believes that through all the trials and
tribulations throughout life, her family will always be there
for her. "It may be hard to believe, but a family member . '··.
can be the best friend anyone coulp have." t'Yi
                       Her conservative and ·old-fashioned values
undeniably come from her close relationship with both her '
family and God. Being raised as a Roman Catholic, D0reen
is also deeply involved in religious activities as she often
attends religious retreats and volunteers regularly at her
church. "It is the basis of my whole life. I try as much as
possible to li~e a Catholic life because I am a true believer
in God and all of his ways."
Doreen likes to play the piano or do anything that
has to do with music, as well. "A big portion of my life has
been devoted to singing," Doreen said. Obviously very
talented, she also likes computers. She plays games, does
class assignments, and makes web pages whenever she
has free time. And although she does not go out all the time,
Doreen enjoys the time she spends with her friends at
                school.
Happy that high school is over, Doreen is looking
forward to her future but says she wished she would have
met and associated with more people while in high school.
Though sad that she must leave all her friends and
memories, she is anxious to move on and succeed in life.
                                                                                                         Harmony Vehaegh
