Originally from Alabama,
SMSgt. Michael Wetzel moved
to Valencia from the Bay area
prior to the start of the school
year for his first year teaching
VHS'sAirforceJROTC program.
Sgt. Wetzel worked in the Air
Force for nearly 25 years as an
in-flight refueler. When asked
what he liked most about the
JROTC program, he replied, "I
like being able to pass on all the things rve learned in the
military, and with ROTC there's kids who actually want to be
there, not have to be there." He sure seems to be here to stay.
"I like the kids. I like the program."
takes a breather before the start of the Agua Dulce Parade. They used the time to make any last-minute adjustments to their uniforms and harnesses before
marching down the street. 5. "Up, down, touch the ground, puts me in the mood for: P.T.!" Stephanie Ferris stretches before the weekly run. All cadets had
to stretch with the flight as part of the physical training. 6. "Your nametag's off. You get a gig." Jose Sanchez shows Tonya Robinson what's wrong with her
uniform during the weekly inspection while Stephanie Avila looked on. Every Wednesday cadets had to wear their uniforms, and were inspected during their
flights to make sure they were wearing it right.
