Stacie Goldstein
on The Rocky Horror
Picture Show
It is Saturday
evening, nearing mid-
night; the witching hour.
Crowds of people begin to
descend on the Nuart the-
atre in Hollywood, but they
don't look like your average guy on the street. This is the
Rocky Horror crowd, a group of people who love the movie,
and aren't too scared to humiliate themselves. Some people
are dressed in outrageous outfits, some crossdressing, while
others are still in their street clothes. The atmopsphere is
one of love and acceptance. The doors open, and everyone
enters the theatre.
People take their seats, the movie begins, and under the
screen, actors perform right along. The crowd shouts out
"secret lines" during the pauses in the dialogue, and at certain
points, the audience will throw props that coincide with the
movie.
The ultimate goal of going to 'The Rocky Horror Picture
Show" is to be comfortable in a bizzare situation. Each show is
a different expirence, and every night, there is a different
audience. Try it if you dare, and remember, "enter at your own
risk".
