Joseph Francis 'Joe' Cooke

Joseph Francis "Joe" Cooke is a son of Fred and Chief Frances Cooke. Both parents are of California Indian ancestry; his mother's lineage is traceable to individuals who lived at Chaguayabit (aka Tsawayung), a Tataviam Indian village at Castaic Junction, prior to European contact in 1769.

Joe Cooke was born Jan. 21, 1916, in Castaic and died Feb. 26, 1990, in Valencia. He is buried at San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Mission Hills.
