Spring Valley Ranch Resort, Lake Hughes. Postcard 1950s. The consensus estimate on the vehicle is a 1952 or 1953 Chevrolet. (Per Darryl Manzer, the spotlight was an "extra" that wasn't available after 1953.)

Back of postcard says the resort featured "spring-fed lakes stocked with rainbow trout" and "cool clean campgrounds."

As for directions, it says: "Highway 99 to Castaic - 23 Mi. North on Elizabeth Lake Canyon Road."

Chrome postcard by National Press Inc. of North Chicago.

We're short on information about the ranch, although a news item from the Bakersfield Californian of July 29, 1954 (courtesy of Lauren Parker) gives us the name Harry Petti:

Saddle Club Wins Prize in Parade

In addition to winning first prize in the parade, members of Oildale Saddle club enjoyed a pleasant week end when they made the trip to Lake Hughes to participate in the 49er celebration there. They were guests of Mr. Mrs. [sic] Harry Petti at Spring Valley Ranch, and attended the dance Saturday evening at Sportsman Lodge.

Making the trip were the Messrs. and Mesdames Lee Stafford, Lee Aubrey, Emerson Zimmerman, Harold Carson and Mr. Frank Dalley. Val Zimmerman and Burt Carson were young guests.
