Spanish language lobby card, No. 8 in a probable series of eight, 11x14 inches, advertising the 1946 Paramount picture, "El Virginiano" ("The Virginian"), starring Joel McCrea. It was filmed at Ernie Hickson's Placeritos movie ranch, later known as Melody Ranch, and at Andy Jauregui's movie ranch in Placerita Canyon. We don't know what country the lobby card is from. "Country of origin U.S.A." at lower right refers to the movie, not the lobby card. If it were from Mexico, it would probably say so and measure 12.5x16.5 inches. It could be from Spain, where the picture was released as "El Virginiano." The year 1946 is probably too early for a run of eight lobby cards targeting Spanish-speaking theater audiences in the United States, but we can't rule out the possibility. "The Virginian" features McCrea, Brian Donlevy, Sonny Tufts, Barbara Britton, Fay Bainter, Tom Tully, Henry O'Neill, Bill Edwards, William Frawley, Paul Guilfoyle, Marc Lawrence and Vince Barnett. Additional filming locations included the Paramount Ranch in Agoura, Wildwood Regional Park in Thousand Oaks, and a location in Kernville.
