Tarantino's Wild, Wild Western: "Django Unchained."
Revenge Fantasy, Slave Drama, Bloody Thriller — Inside the Year's Most Shocking Movie.


Director Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" began filming November 28, 2011, at the Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio in Placerita Canyon. Additional locations included the Big Sky Ranch in Simi Valley, the Alabama Hills, Jackson Hole and an old plantation near New Orleans.

Released December 11, 2012, it won two Academy Awards and two Golden Globes, both for Best Original Screenplay (Tarantino) and Best Supporting Actor (Christoph Waltz).

Jamie Foxx stars in the title role, alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington and Samuel L. Jackson.
