Last Rites Said for Mrs. Agnes K. O'Brien.

Mrs. Agnes Katherine O'Brien [née Flynn], mother of Mrs. Marguerite Perkins, passed to her final rest Sunday at San Fernando Hospital. She had been in failing health for some time.
Rosary was recited at the Noble Mortuary in San Fernando Tuesday night, and Mass was said Wednesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church by Father Thomas J. O'Malley. Interment took place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
The deceased was born 77 years ago in County Sligo, Ireland, and came to America as a girl of 17. She was married to Joseph D. O'Brien, and as newlyweds they trekked into the Colorado mining camps in the Nineties, following the gold booms into southern Nevada about 1905, where they were pioneer settlers of such camps as Beatty, Rhyolite and Pioneer.
In Colorado they had been on the original mining discoveries in the Sangre de Cristo mountains, and the San Juan Valley.
In 1937, a severe attack of arthritis overcoming Mr. O'Brien, they came to Newhall, where they lived with their family for about a year, returning to Beatty, where Mrs. O'Brien collapsed, and they were again brought here.
In 1941 their present home was built at 517 Tenth street [later called Lyons Avenue — Ed.], where they since resided.
Mrs. O'Brien was much interested in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
Two years ago, the O'Briens celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
The deceased is survived by her husband, her daughter, Mrs. Perkins, and three grandchildren.
