Gene Folke Broman


Arlene Wright, 86, peacefully passed from this life on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at her residence in Saugus, CA. She was born September 3, 1926, in Haydock, Iowa, the second of six children to Glenn and Dovie Story.

Arlene lived in Santa Clarita for more than 55 years. She and her family settled in Castaic in 1933 after moving from Missouri. She attended Castaic Elementary School and San Fernando High School. In 1944 she married George Wright; their marriage would last 60 years.

After retiring from Pacific Telephone in 1981, Arlene and George moved to Grand Junction, CO where they spent 24 years together in retirement, traveling and generally enjoying life. While retired Arlene developed her artistic ability and became an accomplished artist. Arlene returned to Santa Clarita in 2006 after the passing of her husband.

Surviving family includes her sons: Jim Wright of Newhall, CA and Mike Wright of Grand Junction, Colo.; sisters: Fran Smith of Corona Del Mar, CA; Betty Olling of Bakersfield, CA; June Furman of Gorman, CA; brother Glenn Story of Eagle Point, OR; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Eternal Valley Memorial Park, 23287 Sierra Hwy, Newhall, CA 91321.
