Clyde (Bob) R. Widrig 91, passed away on June 23, 2013. He was born January 8, 1922 in Saratoga, Wyoming to Clyde Raymond Widrig and Althea Elizabeth Horton, and raised in Gardena, California.
After graduating from Gardena High School, he married his high school sweetheart Eros Smythe (deceased). They celebrated 56 years of marriage and went on to raise three sons: Clyde R. Widrig II (Kathy) of Simi Valley, Paul Randolf (deceased), and Mark William (deceased).
Bob served in the U.S. Army during WWII, rebuilding the roads and airstrips in Honolulu. After the war he joined the Los Angeles Police Department and worked Harbor Division for 22 years. Still too young to retire, he owned and managed several businesses in Santa Clarita.
He will be missed by his grandchildren, Ryan Widrig (Stephanie), Lorin Manderly, Marci De Paco (David), Steven Widrig, Lisa Patterson (Jeff), Kelly Delgado (Jose) and many great grandchildren. He is also survived by his younger brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Carolyn Widrig and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to Comfort Keepers of Santa Clarita. Their care and compassion for Bob was immeasurable.
At his request, there will be no services.
