Katherine Susan Ballinger

Katherine "Susan" Ballinger, 79, of Newhall, CA passed away quietly on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. Susan was born in Wheeling, WV on January 3, 1938 to the late Kenneth and Gertrude Kemple and was raised in Martins Ferry, OH. She attended The Ohio State University in 1958 where she was a cheerleader and earned her degree as an X-Ray Technician.

Susan has been a beloved member of the Newhall community in which she worked several years in the medical field. She loved sports and could be frequently found enjoying basketball, golf, tennis and football. Her all-time favorite thing was trees.

Susan was the matriarch of her family and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her three children: Dawn Ballinger of CA, Dyana Perniciaro of CO and Debra Ballinger of MT; her three grandchildren: Ian McMahon of CO, Mallory McMahon of CA and Shane Payne Ballinger of AZ, as well as her great-grandson, Anthony Payne Ballinger.

Rather than a funeral proceeding, Susan wished to be spread amongst the trees by her family. For those who wish to send their condolences and say goodbye, she and her family request a donation on her behalf to one of the following organizations: National Forest Foundation, American Lung Association or American Heart Association.
