Margaret (Martz) McGreevy
Nurse, Providence St. Joseph Hospial; Santa Clarita Resident


Margaret (Martz) McGreevy passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, in Los Angeles, California. Margaret (Martz) McGreevy was born in Missoula on May 23, 1914. She was the youngest of four children. Margaret grew up in Missoula and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1932, and Providence St. Patrick School of Nursing on 1936. After graduation she moved to Los Angeles to be closer to her sister and her family.

She began her nursing career at St. Vincent Hospital in Los Angeles. Margaret met and married Desmond McGreevy in 1937. They raised four children in the San Fernando Valley, Jerry, Mike, Pat and Mary. In 1948 Margaret began working at St. Joseph Hospital in Burbank. She began working the night shift so that she could be home during the day with her children. In 1984 she retired after 36 years of service.

Providence St. Joseph Medical Center remained a very important part of her life. In 1985 she joined the Guild. Margaret worked many hours in the Thrift Shop, Gift Shop and on the Information Desk as a Guild member. At age 91 she moved to Santa Clarita to be closer to her daughters, Pat and Mary. Margaret's entire life was one of dedication and service to her family and friends, her Church and Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank.

She was predeceased by her husband, Desmond and her son, Michael. She is survived by her son Jerry McGreevy; daughters, Patricia Heaton and Mary Ellen Cayson, 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
