Stevenson Ranch resident Salvador Lopez was born on November 24, 1924, in Azusa, Ca. to Stephen and Aurora (Mendoza) Lopez. At 18 months old, his father was tragically killed in a rock crushing accident, where he was employed. He rarely spoke about the details of his upbringing except that he was raised by his uncle Louis Mendoza and his wife Grace.

Salvador met his wife of 58 years, Isabel (Meza), in June 1948. Together they had four children.

In 1976, while seeking his birth certificate to apply for a passport to travel to Europe, he discovered he wasn't Salvador; he was named Joseph at birth.

Salvador enjoyed raising his grand- and great-grandchildren.
