Simon Cordova: Death Certificate, Obituary

Son of Castaic homesteaders Jesus Cordova and Antonia Lopez Cordova, Simon Cordova died at 4 a.m. on the first day of 1934 at Newhall Community Hospital after a brief but fatal bout of pneumonia. His exact birth date is unknown; he was reported to be 67 at the time of his death. He was buried in the Ruiz-Perea Cemetery in San Francisquito Canyon. Funeral arrangements were handled by Noble Chapel of San Fernando.

Former Resident Dead.

Simon Cordova, formerly of Castaic, died at his home [sic] New Years day after a long [sic] illness. The funeral took place Wednesday, internment being in the Ruiz Cemetery in San Francisquito Canyon.

Cordova Laid to Rest.

NEWHALL, Jan. 4. — Funeral services were conducted here for Simon Cordova, pioneer resident of this section, with interment in Ruiz Cemetery in San Francisquito Canyon. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Juana Cordova. Cordova was known to hundreds of old residents in the Newhall, Saugus, Castaic and San Fernando sections.
