Suzanne Moriarty


Suzanne Oliver Moriarty, beloved wife of Major Thomas J. Moriarty (U.S Army ret.) died Sunday, August 10, in Valencia, Calif., in the care of her family, after a two-year battle with cancer that she endured with courage and grace.

Born in Vienna, Austria, a daughter of John and Dorothea Oliver, she grew up in Rocky Hill, CT. As a dedicated military wife, she accompanied Tom on tours that spanned both sides of the Atlantic, later settling in Plymouth, Minnesota, and most recently in California.

Besides her husband, she leaves three sons that she cherished: Brendan Moriarty of Rocky Hill, CT; Patrick Moriarty of Cordova, TN: and Sean Moriarty of Minneapolis, MN; her sisters: Margaret Moriarty and her husband James of Rockey Hill, CT; and Nora "Casey" Oliver of Rocky Hill, CT; her sister-in-law: Sr. Patty Moriarty, of Johnston, RI; brothers-in-law: Timothy Moriarty of Rocky Hill, CT and William Moriarty of Cromwell, CT.

Sue will be remembered by all who knew and loved her for her kind heart and generous spirit. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday August 23 at 10:00 am in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 280 Brook St, Rocky Hill, CT. Friends and family may call at the church from 9 until 9:45. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 825 Brook St, Rocky Hill, CT or your local humane society.
