It looks like Sierra Vista Junior High School is just about ready to open in 1964. The construction sign is still up.
The two photos of the athletic field and gymnasium are probably a bit later. Bruce Posten remembers (pers. comm. 2017): "Went there opening year. Had no gym first year."
Sierra Vista Junior High School, a component of the William S. Hart Union High School District, opened in the fall of 1964 at 19425 W. Stillmore St.
in North Oaks subdivision. The north end of campus had been part of the Schmidt family's 6-S Ranch Airpark property in the 1940s and 1950s. At first, Sierra Vista's graduates
went on to Hart High; after Canyon High School opened in September 1968, Sierra Vista became Canyon's feeder school.
Sierra Vista initially housed Canyon Country's 7th through 9th graders; it switched to grades 7-8 in the 1970s, as did the other Hart District
middle schools.
