This year not only marked our tenth anniversary, but we also welcomed to our school a new principal, Mr. Michael von Buelow. There are some very interesting facts about our new principal that we Centurions should note.

First of all, Mr. von Buelow was originally from Chicago before he moved to Santa Barbara where he attended Saint Anthony's High School. From there, he went on to major in English at the University of California in Los Angeles. During his college years, he participated in activities such as the Newman Club and the University Choir. Mr. von Buelow is also interested in sports. When he was 21 years old he was asked to play semi-pro baseball with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He turned down that offer because he thought he was too old.

After graduating from UCLA, Mr. von Buelow was a coach, teacher, counselor, and then Vice Principal at Chaminade High School. After Chaminade, Mr. von Buelow worked at Crespi High School and Downeyville schools.

At home, Mr. von Buelow enjoys being with his wife and two boys. His favorite games are Perquackie, Boggle, and Trivial Pursuit. Mr. von Buelow also likes to spend his time playing raquetball, softball and tennis.

As you can see, our new principal is a very athletic and academic person. He has many future plans for Saugus. One of them is to start more vocational and academic programs at Saugus. He believes that through work and cooperation Saugus High will be number one.
