Newhall Trail Riders / E.T.I. Corral #69 keep the tradition alive.
Equestrian Trails Inc. (ETI) was organized in 1944 to keep an eye out for enemy invaders in the back country along the Southern California coast.
(A Japanese submarine had shelled Goleta Beach on Feb. 23, 1942.) Today (2012) the national organization, headquartered in Acton, is active throughout the Southland.
Affiliated "corrals" (groups of riders) promote horsemanship and safe riding; some corrals get involved in promoting equine legislation and
and the acquisition and preservation of riding and hiking trails.
