Our varsity track teams showed enormous
strength even though they were plagued with
injuries. The boys varsity team, few in num-
ber, placed 2 boys in the C.I.F. Finals. Dan
Rattary ran a 9:26 in the 2 miles to give him a
birth to C.I.F. Gary Tice also showed a great
amount of physical ability with a 6'4" high
jump. Other assets to the team were Trevor
Doyle in the 300 intermediate hurdles, triple
jump, long jump, 100 meter, and last leg of
the 4xl00 relay team; George Serrano in the
1600 meter; and Cary Sakaki in the 400
meter race. Sean Sweetham led the discus
pack with his throw of 120'4" at the Palm-
dale meet. In the Pole Vault event, Soph-
             more Casey Whiteside made phenomenal
growth in height from last year to 11' which
he vaulted in the Finals meet. The 4xl00
relay team of Cam Cross, Casey Rhodes,
Trevor Doyle and Martin Presson ran their
best time of 45.9 seconds at the meet against
Hart. "Due to injuries and other misfortunes,
our team as a whole did not do as well as
expected," said Coach Heald. "Many indi-
viduals did extremently well, we wish them
             the best for next year.
